A Guide to Legal Information and Resources
Public librarians are on the front line in serving patrons who seek help with legal matters. Numerous online and community resources exist but patrons generally need guidance to find the appropriate resources. Courts and legal services providers are working with public libraries to make these connections. This project seeks to build on those efforts by expanding librarians’ knowledge of the courts, the legal process and available legal online and community resources, including do-it-yourself programs. It also provides guidance on the difference between legal information and legal advice.
